Grant applications are accepted year-round through the Foundation for immediate needs requests. For information on how to submit an immediate needs request, please contact the Foundation 970-249-3900. Grant application are accepted from September 2, 2019 until November 1, 2019 for the 2019-2020 MCF Impact Grant cycle.
The following criteria are used in the evaluation of grant requests:
- Proposed project or activity is generally aligned with the vision and mission of the Montrose Community Foundation.
- Grant requests should benefit a large percentage of the community with special emphasis given to the most needy or under-served components.
- Grants should have a large impact in terms of number of people affected.
- Proposed project or activity includes involvement and mutual support from other agencies/organizations within the community.
- Funds should be spent in the community.
- Organization appears to have capacity to carry out proposed project or activity.
- Requests that also have funding from other sources will be given higher consideration.
- Indicate on your application whether partial funding of your request is an option.
- Grant requests for operational expenses will be carefully screened and must directly relate to organization’s program and primary purpose.
- Historically grant amounts from the Foundation ranged from $500 to $5,000. The 2019-2020 MCF Impact Grant cycle is not limiting the amount of funds for which applicants may request.
The following grant requests will not be funded:
- Medical expenses for an individual.
- Payments directly to families for requests arising from catastrophes. The Foundation will consider requests from organizations created for that purpose.
- Requests for travel expenses.
- College scholarships will not be funded through the competitive grant cycle.
